Release 002
The phrase "Get in tune for accord" can mean a lot of things. For one, it’s supposed to remind us of the power and authority that we have over ourselves. If we see every action (or inaction) as an expression of our self, then we can gain power of it. We take ownership and responsibility for it. At the point where we take ownership of our expressions, we become in tune with accord. With ownership over them, we gain ownership over our self and thus we can move in any direction we desire. The first step, however, is getting in tune.
The phrase could also be used as an external method of Conscious Love. We simply need to realize that accord CAN be found between ourselves and other people. This doesn’t have to be done through conflict or conquest, but simply by getting in tune with who we are and who they are and then making the effort to adjust what needs to be adjusted.
We came up with the concept for Release 002 in February (our goal was to make 1 shirt every month) but the idea sat around for a while as we looked for motivation to move forward and actually print it. The success of the first shirt also made us a little bit nervous about going forward, as we weren't sure if a failure this soon would be the end of Heartyshirts.
The inspiration came when a co-worker of ours, Aaron, told us about some of his friends at a place called Anti-Mart. They're a nice group of artists that design and print their own shirts. We got in touch with them and went down to their studio in Brooklyn to see if they'd like to print our 2nd release. They showed us their bleaching method and the hand-sewn tags that they do and we were thrilled. Release 002 was on its way to being born. Another thing to note is that a lot of our friends had loved Release 001, but were looking for shirts that were more "girly" and form fitting. Thus, we decided to release both boy- and girl-cut shirts for this design. We’re VERY pleased with the outcome of this design and we look forward to working with this printing company again.
That's about it for this shirt. Remember, all the shirts are individually hand-dipped in bleach and all the tags are hand-sewn, so every shirt is different. Hope you like it, thanks for your time.
